After several "cheated" and "scammed" experience with previous functional medicine doctors, such as Jignesh Mehta and Shabnam Das Kar, I thought I had gained experience and got a little smarter, but good grief!
So, I called up and emailed Lily Kiswani and told and wrote her about my problems to keep myself proofs of what she claims and what she could deliver. I got a reply back that, "yes, they can certainly be tackled through our protocols". If there was a certainty issue involved , one with any ethics would not charge you the whole money for the treatment, one would see if they are sure of helping you before they could charge you. Sounds Legit or Right to anybody ? Here she sounded sure that my issues could be handled without seeing or getting any lab tests done. So the man who thought he has grown smarter, went her to see her enthusiastically, only to have the experience repeated.
Also on the phone, I specifically asked her if she can help me with the diet. Because unless the diet is dialed-in , taking supplements is like taking a pain-killer while there is still a stone in the shoe. She said "yes, she will help me on that" How I wish I had recorded that call too. Secondly, Taking supplements without correcting your diet is masking the symptoms only. See what happened in reality. With the food intolerances like mine, a non allergen diet is what I could only live on.
Naturally I was skeptical of her abilities when already who doctors have failed, so I asked her for any the references of any patients who were healed with similar issues like me. She did seem very transparent on that.
The quality of her could have been judged from the scrambled word document she asks you to fill. The quality of her could have been further judged by the too many personal psychological questions she asks you during the visit, like a psychologist would. That should have given me a hint that this was a psychiatrist and not someone who I needed with an extensive experience in resolving gut issues.
After going through all your dirty laundary for 3 hours and 30 minutes out of the 4 hours of scheduled visit, she goes through the elimination diet *eye rolls*. Who in the world who has gut issues does not know about elimination diet!? That is not what I came 4 hours travelling for!! I could read that on the internet and that too in an even better manner. Anyway, she did not go into detail, like you would expect after paying so much and promising you that she would, she skirts through the subject on elimination diets as "eat things that you are not intolerant to" and "after 1 month eat those things again"
After that she will give a low down on how many visits you would need after that. Need less to say I did not go for any follow-up because I did not feel any better nor she was of any help. I could have been better off on my own. Again if you had spent 10 mins watching any youtube video and even read one article on the internet on the subject you would get the same information that you would have gotten after paying 18000 Rs to her and wasting 8 hours of your time.
One day I got superb frustrated from the lack of progress and asked her to come to the point. Apparently she does not like such point blank questions for which you paid her and consequently gets offended. Also, she doesn't give answers to complex questions. As I said before she can only tell you to do Low Carb and High Fat diet *rolls eyes*
She went from "Your issues can certainly be tacked to" in the first pic to "Your issues are complex" in the last pic.
EDIT : Looking back even more, she(Lily Kiswani) has hurt me more than she has helped. After taking her naive and ignorant advice, I had more health issues occurring than before I went to her.

I will tell you a few juicy insider bits about this so-called Diabetes Destroyer.
ReplyDelete1. She is not a diabetologist or a physician in the first place. She is a gynecologist. I wonder why she left her gynac practice and started this phony diabetes destruction programme.
2. Various organization such as Indian Medical Association(IMA), General Practitioners Association(GPA), etc. conduct seminars for updation of doctor's knowledge. This lady Lily Kiswani sits in the audience like any other ordinary doctor, and awaits the end of the seminar. When the seminar is about to end, and the speaker(who is a senior experienced doctor) addresses questions and queries of the doctors sitting in the audience, Dr. Lily Kiswani sneaks in with her questions like "When complementary medicine has already found a cure for diabetes, why are we doctors still using these medicine?" Needless to say, everybody in the audience is like "What the phak this lady is saying?". Most speakers are totally unprepared for such fancy questions, but once it happened that a bariatric surgeon(if I remember correctly) gave her his email address and asked her to send the scientific literature backing her big claims. I doubt if she can ever send it, because there is none!
3. She strikes a 'friendly' conversation with few of the doctors seated next to her and then hands them her visiting card which titles her as "Diabetes Destroyer". I have personally received her visited card from her this way when I was sitting next to her in one of the seminars conducted by IMA(Juhu, Vile Parle branch).
4. I have seen her at few other diabetes knowledge update seminars thereafter, but have consciously avoided her.
5. While she is sitting in the audience, I sense that she has an contemptuous attitude towards the speaker and feels as if she is above the speaker because of diabetes-destruction super-power gifted to her.
6. I suspect that she has some kind of personality disorder or personality defect, or may be she has decided to intentionally exploit the gullible and vulnerable people.
7. I could not find her name in the medical register of Maharashtra Medical Council(MMC) nor Medical Council of India. It means that she has either voluntarily got her name removed(or voluntarily did not renew her registration) or she has been blacklisted. If she does not have a valid registration in any statutory body, then she may be called a quack!
PS: I have sat next to this lady on one occasion and observed her interactions many times. So be assured that all I have written is my first-hand account. I have no personal enmity with Dr. Lily Kiswani, but I am anti-quackery!
